Disclaimers
• This Financial Aid Need Based EFC Estimator is not a substitute for a financial aid application federally approved.
• Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) is found at www.fafsa.ed.gov and you must apply for financial aid via this website.
• Our Financial Aid Need Based EFC Estimator can be used only for your reference purposes to help you understand Expected Family Contribution(EFC) estimate based on your data input, and the official results from postsecondary educational institution may vary from our estimated calculation. Each financial aid offer can be different among each institution even if the same personal income and asset information is applied.
• The accuracy of the information you provide to this estimator will be dependent on the accuracy of the estimate of EFC.
• These results are applied to the student's resident status as U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents only. International students are not eligible for federal need-based financial aid programs as stated by the federal law.

What is the definition of an independent student?
Because the EFC Estimator for a dependent student uses parental data, and the two formulas for independent students do not, the first step in calculating a student’s EFC is to determine his or her dependency status. For the 2014-2015 Award Year, a student is automatically determined to be an independent applicant for federal student aid if he or she meets one or more of the following criteria.
